Pissouri Cyprus

Pissouri is one of the best kept secrets that Cyprus has.

Located in a scenic bay tucked away in a cove near the Aphrodite Hills resort, this is a stunning and tranquil setting that is growing in popularity amongst holiday makers wanting to sample traditional Cypriot living. The area of Pissouri is actually comprised of 2 villages, the upper village in the hills which overlook the bay, and the lower village down on the beach.

In terms of location to major towns, Pissouri is roughly 20mins drive from Paphos and 25mins drive from Limassol. Pissouri is also only 10mins drive from Aphrodite Hills. Aphrodite Hills is the island's newest luxury golf and villa leisure resort.

Both are equally quaint, each having something that makes it unique from the other.

The lower village:

This is where we find the main beach which is littered with a series of excellent taverns and restaurants. There is even an Indian restaurant down here, and trust me, it's good food! The local taverns all serve up an excellent meze as well as fish dishes that will keep you coming back. To name but a few of the restaurants in the bay:

Kastros, The Vineleaf, Yialos Fish Tavern, Captain's Bay.

When going anywhere on holiday, one tends to try and make sure one samples good food along the way. I really recommend visiting Pissouri even if you are not staying there in any of our villas. Take a trip for the day and enjoy some great food on the beach in the warm Cypriot surroundings.

The upper village is an old village that still has old cobbled streets twisting around mud houses with white washed walls that are perched on the cliff edges looking down towards the sea. Each Wednesday evening the village square, the taverns open out into the streets and a bouzouki evening ensues with lively Greek music to fill the evening air.
